High Line NYC
The High Line is a public park built on an historic freight rail line
elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side.
Founded in 1999 by community residents, Friends of the High Line
fought for the High Line’s preservation and transformation at a time
when the historic structure was under the threat of demolition.
The species of plant life on the High Line were chosen for their

Riverwalk San Antonio
The San Antonio Riverwalk takes a formerly working riverfront that had fallen into disuse and
makes it easy to get to. What began as a WPA flood-control project is now a network of walkways
along the banks of the San Antonio River, one story beneath approximately 5 miles of downtown
San Antonio. Cafés, specialty shops, hotels, and musical nightlife abound while the natural river
comes through. The Paseo del Rio Association is a non-profit organization founded in 1968 to
promote, protect and preserve the San Antonio River Walk.
Wunderland Kalkar is an amusement park in Germany, just north of Düsseldorf.
It is built on the former site of SNR-300, a nuclear power plant that never went
online because of construction problems and protests. Many of the facilities
constructed for the plant have been integrated into the park and its attractions,
including the cooling tower, which features a swing ride and a climbing wall. The
park also features four restaurants, eight bars, and six hotels.
